Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
GreensReport is a golf course conditions platform. This policy explains what
we collect, who it reaches, and what you can do about it.
Information We Collect
- Account information: your email address and display name.
If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that
service. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we receive a relay address instead
of your real one, and that is all we ever see.
- Content you submit: course condition reports, comments,
photos you upload, feedback, and messages you send to other golfers.
- Location: only when you tap Check In, so we can verify you
are at the course you are reporting on. That one fix is stored with the report
and is never shown to other golfers: all they ever see is that
the report was checked in at the course. Sorting courses by distance happens on
your device and sends us nothing. Location is never collected in the
background.
- Notification tokens: if you turn on notifications, we store
the push token your device issues, so we can send the alerts you asked for.
- Usage data: pages viewed, a randomly generated visitor
identifier stored on your device, your browser's user agent, and the website
that referred you. We record the referring site only, never the full address
or anything you searched for. While you are signed in this activity is
linked to your account; signed out, it is tied only to the identifier
on your device.
How We Use It
- To run the app: showing conditions, your reports, badges, points and rank.
- To send only the notifications and emails you have turned on.
- To understand which parts of the app are used, in aggregate.
- To reply to you about your account or your feedback.
Who Else Sees It
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for
advertising. We do use a small number of services to run GreensReport:
- Supabase hosts our database, accounts, files and server code.
- Resend delivers our email.
- Anthropic generates the short “Worth It Today”
verdict shown on a course. Condition fields from reports are sent for this.
The comment you write is only sent if you have agreed to it,
and you can change your answer at any time in Profile. If you have not agreed,
your report still posts and is shown to other golfers exactly as normal; only
the AI summary leaves your words out. Your name, email and account
identifier are never sent.
- Apple delivers push notifications to iPhones, and handles
Sign in with Apple.
- Vercel hosts the website and the app's web pages. Like any
web host it processes your IP address and request details in order to serve a
page to you.
- Google handles Sign in with Google, if that is how you
choose to sign in, and Google Places provides course details.
No golfer data is sent to Google Places.
- Open-Meteo and OpenWeatherMap provide
weather. We send the course's coordinates, never your device's.
- OpenStreetMap provides the map images and converts course
addresses into coordinates. Loading a map sends your IP address to
OpenStreetMap, as loading any image from another site does. We never send them
your location.
What Is Public
Your display name appears on every report you file, on course pages and on the
leaderboard. Reports, comments and photos you submit are visible to everyone.
Your email address is never shown to other golfers.
Community Rules and Safety
GreensReport has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive
behavior. Everyone using GreensReport is expected to follow our
Community Rules.
You can report a report, a photo or a message, and you can block another
golfer, which hides their reports, comments and photos from you and stops them
messaging you.
We review abuse reports within 24 hours. Content that breaks
the rules is removed and the golfers responsible lose access to GreensReport.
Content with multiple abuse reports is hidden automatically while we review it.
Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account at any time, from inside the iPhone app
and from the website, in the same place either way: Profile, then
Delete my account. It happens immediately and does not require emailing
anyone or asking us to do it for you.
Deleting removes your profile, messages, favorites, alerts, notification
tokens, badges and points. Your course reports stay by default,
listed as “Former golfer”, because other golfers rely on the
conditions you recorded. You can choose to delete your reports and their photos
as well; that option is off by default. A photo of yours that has become a
course's cover image stays, without your name attached.
If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to revoke the connection
between your Apple ID and GreensReport.
How Long We Keep It
- Your account and content stay until you delete them. See
Deleting Your Account below for what goes and what stays.
- Location from Check In is kept with the report it belongs
to, for as long as that report exists.
- Notification tokens are removed when you turn notifications
off, and automatically once your device stops accepting them, which is what
happens when you delete the app.
- Usage data is kept to understand how the app is used across
a season. We have not set a fixed deletion schedule for it yet; when we do, it
will be stated here.
- Delivery records, meaning the fact that an email or
notification was sent and whether it arrived, are kept so we can tell when
notifications are failing.
- Backups are kept for seven days, so content you delete can
survive in a backup for up to a week after it is gone from the app.
Children
GreensReport is rated 13+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not
knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the
change in the app.
